After I took the Christmas decorations down this past weekend, I was still in a winter spirit, so I came up with a “winter” mantel.
One of my favorite decorations is a crystal garland I picked up when planning my wedding. I didn’t end up using it for any wedding decorations, but it’s come in very handy since then, especially at Christmas, since it reminds me of ice. Plus, I like it enough to stretch it across as many seasons as possible.
I used it this year in the Christmas mantel:
And I decided to keep it out for a while.
Now in its new mantel-scape, it works perfectly with my mason jar hurricanes (one of which actually has pine cones in it)…
It’s a great transition item between the two (decorate-able) sides of the mantel…
and it adds some sparkle and texture to our beautiful rustic fireplace.
Best part? I used only things I already had, so it was a free project!

Lovely mantle! I'm always so jealous of the beautiful mantle decorations I see.
